Discover the essentials of accessibility in games and learn how to make your great work enjoyable for so many more users - using incredibly simple methods!
We might not realize it at first, but accessibility plays a role in virtually every aspect of our life - whether by wearing glasses or hearing aids, living with physical limitations or sustaining sensory overloads. Even the brightness level of the screen on which you are currently reading this text can be considered an accessibility or quality-of-life feature!
In this short talk, I focus on the topic of general accessibility in games, including:
- An explanation of what accessibility actually is and why it is so important.
- How small and simple (UI) optimizations can make a huge positive difference for many users.
- An overview of tools available to (indie) developers.
- Why forcing accessibility is a bad idea and why it is (sadly) impossible to optimize games for every single individual.
So, join me on this little journey through virtual realms of boundless freedom, and let’s discover new ways of making games as accessible as possible - after all, it enhances everyone’s enjoyment of your fantastic works! ♥
